Just back from epic San Francisco, Napa/Sonoma, Lake Tahoe, Las Vegas, San Diego trip - yes these places are already known to us, but worthy of return for more exporation and quite simply more of the same :-)
San Francisco - Barry Bonds' final game for the Giants - his last at bat fell 6 feet short of a home run :-( We had seats in the gods, but the stadium has an open view over the bay and no-one ever died of a nosebleed ;-)
Spent a happy day at Bay Meadows horseracing track. Doug does not have a gambling problem, just a winning problem........not true we had a winning day there. Bay Meadows is just south of San Francisco, nice track on a nice day.
Santa Rosa, CA - a fine base for exploring Napa and Sonoma wine regions. Also the historical home of Charles Shultz aka Peanuts, thus street art of Snoopy characters like this :-)
Lake Tahoe was beautiful in the sun and crisp first snow of the season - naturally this caught us by surprise and we had to wear the whole wardrobe at once to stay warm - here we are at the Sunnyside Lodge - it's easy to relax there, so we did !
In Las Vegas we stayed at The Signature, MGM's new 'luxury' bit. It is at one corner of the MGM lot, and a mere 15 minutes brisk walk to the Race & Sports book at the other corner of the MGM lot !! Seriously it is a long way from civilisation as we know it, so had to get a taxi to the Race & Sports book, that's how big the MGM lot is !! Invented a new pastime 'pool hopping' where there are enough swimming pools to flt between them on a casual basis :-) Here's Bellagio's decadent waste of apples in their conservatory, by way of art !! We won a modest amount in LV, and had the usual fab eats and drinks :-) Saw some Cirque de Soleil, KA which was surprisingly good.
Two great Vans from San Diego - first up a removal van with helpful tip No.12. Observers have already noticed how Doug has the same clothes on in most of the recent photos in this blog - swines ! It's called deodorant and it's not expensive dudes !
2nd up, this RV would be fun to drive across the USA don't you think? It's a sign !
A new fashion for double bed sunlounger? :-) here's an example of a hotel that puts the beds outside by the pool :-) Just what's a girl to do?
We love San Diego, here's the harbour view from the room.
We're just back in the UK for a few weeks, see some friends and catch up. TTFN
